A plug valve is a valve that controls the flow of fluid by rotating the valve core (usually called a plug).
Features of plug valves:
1. Simple structure and easy operation: The structure of the plug valve is relatively simple, usually consisting of a valve body, a valve plug, a valve cover, a valve stem and a drive mechanism. The opening and closing of the fluid is achieved by rotating the valve plug, and the operation is intuitive and convenient.
2. Good sealing performance: The sealing performance of the plug valve is relatively good, and it is suitable for occasions where leakage needs to be prevented. The surface where the valve plug contacts the valve body is made of high-strength material, which can effectively ensure the sealing. 3. Strong corrosion resistance: Plug valves are usually made of corrosion-resistant materials, which can adapt to corrosive fluids such as acids and alkalis, and are suitable for the chemical and petroleum industries.
4. Wear-resistant, suitable for high-viscosity fluids: The surface of the valve plug is specially treated, so that the plug valve has strong wear resistance, which is suitable for the control of fluids with poor fluidity and high viscosity.
5. Fast opening and closing: The opening and closing action of the plug valve is usually relatively fast, which is suitable for occasions where the fluid channel needs to be adjusted quickly. Generally, it only needs to be rotated 90 degrees to achieve full opening or full closing.
6. Adaptable to large-diameter and large-flow pipelines: Due to the design structure of the plug valve, it performs well in large-diameter and large-flow pipeline systems and can effectively control the switching of fluids.
7. Strong adaptability: Suitable for high-pressure, high-temperature or low-temperature working conditions, especially in oil, natural gas, chemical industry and marine engineering.
Limitations of plug valves: Not suitable for large-diameter or long-term high-pressure applications, because the sealing surface may generate large friction. Frequent operation may cause wear of the sealing surface, requiring regular maintenance or lubrication. Plug valves are widely used in gas transportation, petroleum refining, chemical pipelines and occasions with high leakage prevention requirements.
